Her mother was the executive secretary of the United States Navy, her father
was an agent in Naval Investigative Service. The family resided in Washington,
D.C., Arizona, Japan, and often moved around during her childhood. As a child
she was influenced by her grandfather and grandmother to study painting,
drawing and architecture. In her pursuit of the visual arts, she discovered an
interest in acting. She was also introduced to modern theater at the time of
her college. In 1994 she graduated from George Mason University with a Bachelor
of Arts degree in Studio Art. Seehorn began her college career as an actor, and
was guided by her acting instructor. She took on a variety of assistant roles
within the industry of theater in D.C. to try to be noticed. However, she never
managed to be a part of major local theatre productions, and was forced to work
odd jobs in order to stay afloat but she continued to work in the film industry
as a teacher filmmaker. In the next few years, she was able to be cast in TV productions.
She was often seen in roles that were "very humorous and sarcastic"
like her role model Bea Arthur. But, the majority of these roles were for
short-run shows that were cancelled after just two or three seasons. In May
2014, Seehorn was cast in the Breaking Bad spin-off prequel series Better Call
Saul. Seehorn plays Kim Wexler, who is a lawyer and is the love of Jimmy
McGill/Saul Goodman (Bob Odenkirk).
